Nissan to produce a 100% electric van at its plant in Barcelona

Nissan announced that the 100% electric compact van e-NV200 will go into production in the 2013 financial year at its Barcelona Plant.

This new model will represent an investment of 100 million Euros for Nissan in Spain, and is expected to create around 700 new jobs at Nissan and in the associated Spanish industry.

As the only plant in charge of manufacturing the e-NV200, Barcelona will supply markets all over the world, which proves the increasing competitiveness of Nissan's industrial operations in Spain, which just last week announced the allocation of a new medium-duty truck to its Plant in Ávila.

Frank Torres, Vice President of Industrial Operations for Nissan in Spain, stated that: "Nissan in Spain has made significant progress over the last few months. Thanks to a lot of hard work and team spirit, all Spanish Nissan plants are back on the competitive track and have left the survival phase behind to steer towards growth ".
