Finnish IT market forecast to grow by 2% in 2012

Finnish companies and the public sector are still planning and implementing IT projects fairly normally, according to Market-Visio.

The value of the Finnish IT market is estimated to grow by 2% and reach a total of EUR 5.73 by Market-Visio Oy, an independent ICT consultant that represents Gartner in Finland. The figures are based on end user spending.

Services related to applications are the growth engine of the IT services market, according to Market-Visio. The fastest growth is in management services for applications, and maintenance and support services for software packages. Application integration and deployment services are also keeping service providers busy in 2012. Services make up more than half of the total IT market.

Software sales contribute over a fifth of the total value of the IT market in Finland. The fastest growing segments of the software market are content and document management, business intelligence, and data security. According to Market-Visio, these segments will also continue to grow faster than the average in the future.

The most significant trend in the market for devices, which forms about a quarter of the total IT market, is the huge demand for tablet devices –  growing at a rate of more than 100%. Demand for storage systems also shows some growth but overall the sales of IT devices is forecast to fall slightly this year.

Although caution has increased slightly and decision-making periods have lengthened, Finnish companies and the public sector are still planning and implementing IT projects fairly normally despite the uncertainty affecting Europe's economy, according to Market-Visio's CEO Mika Rajamäki.
